Functionality to record sounds has been disabled due to changes in new Android versions. Contact developer for more information.
TrackStarter plays the sounds: On your marks, set and go, as well as calculating your reaction time so you can practice sprint starts on your own, with other athletes, from blocks or from a standing position.
TrackStarter allows the user to modify the time interval between the sounds so that the user can adapt it to their needs.
Users can record new sounds and use them instead of the default sounds.
USER GUIDE:
STARTS - Place the phone in contact with the blocks (behind the back block for example), or on your hand if its a standing start. Press the START button and wait for the gunshot. The reaction time is calculated based on the phone's movement.
CHANGE TIME INTERVAL BETWEEN SOUNDS - In Sounds settings you can modify the time interval between pressing the START button and ON YOUR MARKS, between ON YOUR MARKS and SET, and between SET and GO (In which you can assign a maximum and minimum time and the app will choose a random value between the 2 in every start to keep the timing different).
CHANGE SOUND - In Sounds settings you can change the sounds. To do so, press ADD SOUND, record a new sound, name it and save it. Then, when you press CHANGE back in Sounds settings, you will be able to see your new sound in the list. If you want to get your reaction times, it is not recommended to change the sound for the gunshot.
ACCELEROMETER SETTINGS - There are 3 settings you can :
- The false start sensitivity is the minimum movement which will trigger the reaction time between SET and GO (not after GO). Getting into the SET position will generate movement so the sensitivity value between SET and GO is much higher, so that slight movements before the start are not considered reactions, unless they are considerably high. The default value is 5.
- The start sensitivity is the minimum movement which will trigger the reaction time, as long as it is after the gunshot (GO sound). If the app is not detecting your start, lower the value. If you are getting false starts because of slight movements or vibrations nearby, increase the sensitivity value. The default value is 1.
- Time calibration is a setting the user can modify to manually change the reaction time. The default value is 0ms. If you are getting exaggeratedly high reaction times, increase the value, if they are too low, decrease the value.
Example - If your true reaction time is between 0.100 y 0.200, but the app is always registering values between 0.000 y 0.100, you would have to take 0.100, so put -100 in the calibration setting.
If your true reaction time is between 0.100 y 0.200, but the app is always registering values between 0.300 y 0.400, put +200 in the calibration setting.
