CETYS University has a tradition to do a "homecoming" or "students day" party at the beginning of each semester and sometimes the engineering council group organized a rally where students can have fun by completing some challenges as a team. Winner gets a free barbecue for the team and friends.
To make the rally's more fun we take advantage of Proximi.io and Ionic technology, so they can use their smartphone instead of a piece of paper.
The winner team is the one that completes all the challenges first, so students will use the app to try to get closer and find the location of the next challenge. The trick is that we are not telling them the exact location, but only how far the are (like a radar), resulting on a bunch of teams running everywhere to check if they are getting closer to the challenge.
This is a "Proximi.io and Ionic Proximity Hackathon" entry, developed by the "Full Code Alchemist" team:
- Albert Sanchez (developer)
- Manuel Medrano (sponsor & ideas)
- Jose Castelo (icons & art)
- Ulysses Vazquez (translator)
We all are students or graduates from CETYS University in Tijuana, Mexico.
Hope you like it! <3
Overall Logic:
Smartphones behave as radars to locate the next challenge.
Challenge zones are built on the Proximi.io Geofences that have a location (latitude & longitude) and a radius.
We compare the location of each geofence to the smartphones location in order give the radar distance.
Entering the Geofence radius triggers the "Challenge Found" so they know what to do in that challenge.
In order to complete and search the next challenge teams must scan a QR code provided by the staff on that point that will allow them to move on!
sounds fun right!?
