UCY Formally registered as a NPO (non-profit organization). The main focus apart from sport development is HIV / AIDS, life skills orientation, peer education, arts/crafts, job creation, specifically targeting street youth (high risk youth and youth not attending school within marginalized communities.
With our vast filed of expertise and experience working with underprivileged youth, it was asked by the local church groups that UCY run training programmes with the community Centers in the Helderberg, firstly targeting the adults at these centres before we get to the youth, dealing with the issues of HIV / AIDS awareness & Self-awareness.
UCY completed a capacity building program in partnership with other NPO’s within sub council and concluding this project with a certificate of participation ceremony. An ongoing of a job creation is able to be sustained through partnerships formed with various closed cooperated (CC) Companies. UCY in partnership with the City of Cape Town affiliated training groups and trained over 14 youth.
UCY became part of the Mayoral Smile-a-child Program. This program aims to bring street kids home and prevent underprivileged youth from becoming street kids. UCY became a part of the (MSAT) Multi-Sectoral Action Teams, an initiative administered by the City Health Department to combat HIV / AIDS / TB awareness & prevention youth program within the city Bowl and regions within Sub-Council 8.
UCY with support from Local business people, initiated a schools programs within two schools of the greater Macassar and Somerset West community. UCY aims to provide underprivileged youth, parents with job creation opportunities. This program saw the birth of UCY’s holistic approach to work with both underprivileged parent . and child. UCY with support from the Jay’s international Trading cc, initiated an 8 month skills Orientation and HIV / AIDS / TB awareness.
UCY became recognized by the Local business people and was asked to implement an 18 month development program within Macassar “Croydon, Somerset West. Two Schools in Macassar were identified to implement youth development programs UCY expanded its Project into the Greater Helderberg region and established a pilot office in Strand.
UCY is currently established a sustainable job creation project in Macassar for youth & adults. The project aims to Train, Employ and Empower (Project S Y W A F) youth and adults in hard & soft skills.
Today UCY programs collaborates as a structured body, from underprivileged youth playing soccer, to creating HIV / AIDS, Life skills awareness amongst them & their peers, to working with their parents in job creation & community project. UCY implements this body in order to uplift & develop underprivileged youth within marginalized commuities.
