You can display characters for your system font, which is dependent on your Android version, or you can select any .ttf file present in your system installation or on external storage.
Note that unavailable characters may appear as empty boxes, or as nothing at all. If you want to see a wider range of characters, try downloading and selecting the GNU Unifont. This is bitmapped, but should be better than nothing.
