About VAT-number Check (BTWeter) Android App

The BTWeter-app checks the validity of VAT-numbers online by using the VIES-system supported by the European Union. VIES stands for 'VAT Information Exchange System'. All EU member states do register their national VAT-numbers in this system.

This app is originally developed for Dutch users ('BTW' is Dutch for 'VAT'), but can be used globally (in English).

In case of a valid number the name and address of the holder are shown. A valid number starts with a 2-character country code and continues with a combination of most digits and some characters, conforming to the rules of the national tax authority.

If the VAT-number is found to be invalid, please check the FAQ-page of the VIES-site: http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/faq.html. You can check here also which member states have joined the VIES-system, and should be supported by the BTWeter-app as well.

With the Registrate option checks that were completed successfully, will be saved to a file on your SD-card (for any verification or REDO later). By enabling the Scan-checkbox you can also extract the VAT-number from a photo made by a separate scan-app, which you have to install first. You should preferably crop the image for a fast and effective extraction.
