Created by a volcanologist, Vesuvius Volcanopedia also displays near-real-time seismic data obtained by the Vesuvius Observatory and summarizes the main results of its monthly monitoring bulletins.
Epicentre maps show the locations of the active volcano-seismic zones and time-series graphs reveal patterns in seismic behaviour over the last two years that help guide eruption probability assessments.
Vesuvius Volcanopedia is designed as an authoritative and comprehensive information resource and volcano monitoring tool for both residents and visitors in the Naples-Amalfi region, including tourists visiting Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Vesuvius summit crater.
