The beans of Well-Bean coffee begin and end in Nicaragua. For years, founder Melissa Brown’s parents have been missionaries with New Song Nicaragua, where they strive to break the cycle of poverty in mind, body and spirit in the rural communities of the country through the creation and strengthening of Christian communities. After years of visiting her parents, Melissa felt led to start a company in the same spirit that could sell a local resource with hopes to give back to Nicaragua. As both a fan of wellness and an avid coffee drinker, Melissa noticed that combining her hobbies could address well-being both in Nicaragua and in her home state of North Carolina. She quickly found that a coffee social enterprise specializing in direct-trade from Nicaragua would give her the opportunity to give back to the country as well—it’s in this spirit that Well-Bean was born.

Since opening in 2013, Well-Bean has added many coffees to their brand, all imported through specialty green buyers such as Café Imports & Royal New York. When you choose to join our family, you’ll experience:
