This application is a prototype developed by DPN. The West Front Image Screen of Exeter Cathedral is one of the great architectural features of Medieval England. Originally, the image screen was entirely coloured but over the centuries, it has been subject to weathering and human interventions that led to the blackening of the surface and the loss of several features of the statues.
The ERDF- funded Interreg France (Channel) England VISTA AR project have been working on the digital reconstruction of the original statues and colours on the West Front Image Screen. The statues were scanned and the missing features digitally remodelled. The original medieval colours have been reconstructed digitally with the help of an external consultant, Eddie Sinclair, specialist in the polychromy of heritage buildings.The VISTA AR Augmented Reality application available for free to download on Google Play.
