wikiloops.com is a network for musicians that has been around since 2011,
and by now home of uncounted homerecorded backing tracks (+70.000 at the time of writing)
which are available as free downloads and as audio streaming.

To say it straight out: we deliberately do NOT offer collaborations on previously published & copyrighted songs,
so do not expect to find cover versions on wikiloops.

wikiloops for listeners:
If you like hand-made music that is honest to the bone, you will love what we do on wikiloops.

wikiloops for musicians:
One of wikiloops key features for musicians is the built in search engine, which allows you to easily find tracks which are missing the instrument you would like to play,
or to find tracks by defining the lineup, the desired harmony, tempo and genre.
No matter if you are looking for tracks missing guitar, jamtracks for bass practise, tracks without drums or any other instrument you may play, you will easily find such tracks by defining which instruments you allow, and yes, you may also find "karaoke" tracks missing a vocalist to sing along to.

wikiloops for homerecording artists:
Any jam on wikiloops is an open invitation to create a remix, which may then be posted "in reply" to the track.
wikiloops collaborations start with a single instrument track (we call these "templates"), to which other musicians add their recordings.
To keep an overview over the multiple remixes to one template,
wikiloops displays tracks and their remixes in a tree diagram.
To give an example: if you land on any jam, let's say one with drums and bass, you may navigate to the single drums track or to remixes of this track with additional instruments by having a look at the "remix tree".

the global wikiloops community:
Close to 50.000 musicians of all kinds and skill levels have joined wikiloops in the past five years and supplied each other with their additions to each others tracks.
wikiloops allows you to follow artists and get notifications about their new uploads. All feedback on tracks is apreciated, and the community is open to give feedback and help if you are just starting out with homerecording.

Is operated by a small team of musicians and funded by user donations. If you like wikiloops, please do chip in so we can keep wikiloops independent.
