ZEN is basically searching for the truth of who you are.
ZEN is translated as quiet contemplation. ZEN Buddhism was founded in India and introduced into Japan through China.
It is characterized by silent meditation and has greatly influenced many aspects of Japanese culture such as the tea ceremony, landscape gardening and flower arrangement.
In "Soutoushu" Zen, Zazen practice is called "Shikantaza".
"Shikantaza" is meditation without object, anchors or content.
In "Rinzaishu" Zen, Zazen includes contemplating koans.
A "KOAN" is a question that cannot be answered with the logical mind.
Mindfullness is growing rapidly in the U.S. at this time.
"ZEN" is not religion but practice.
If you practice Zazen 3 times per day for 5-8 minutes you will quickly begin to see change in your life.
Practicing Zazen moves you out of the Beta brain wave state and into Alpha. As your practice improves you can move deeper into Theta and Delta brain wave states.
The posture of zazen is seated, with folded legs and hands, and an erect but settled spine.
The hands are folded together over the belly.
The practitioner breathes from the hara (the center of gravity in the belly).
The eyelids are half-lowered.
Welcome to the beautiful Japanese world.
Please enjoy a few minutes of a pleasant time!
