ZIPCARE stands for Zero Time integrated Pathway (ZIP). The free, easy-to-use ZIPCARE app provides clinicians with an evidence-based tool to help expedite the admission process for common diagnoses and improves the speed and accuracy of patient handoffs from the emergency room to the hospital floor. When the patient presents with certain complaints or symptoms that require diagnosis, ZIPCARE offers an integrated pathway guide to help set in motion a specific protocol for all relevant caregivers that is designed to provide the optimal experience. The diagnosing physician notifies all relevant departments then begins working through pre-determined and inter-related processes to help efficiently move that patient through the care process toward discharge. All required departments coordinate with one another resulting in better patient care outcomes, decreased costs and shorter hospital stays. Patients also experience higher levels of satisfaction from the increased coordination and communication among providers and with the patient. They have fewer complications because of better coordinated care and fewer readmissions due to coordinated post-discharge care and follow-up.
ZIPCARE helps hospitals and physicians provide fully-integrated patient care which improves the overall patient experience throughout the hospital stay. Clinicians who will benefit from ZIPCARE include: emergency medicine physicians, hospitalists, anesthesiologists, general practitioners, surgeons, nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
