Updated web links and new datafile location.
ZooKeeper is your free personal Zoo tour guide. Like the other HistorySoft GPS enabled tour apps, it is fully automated and will start talking to you as you approach different animal exhibits and attractions. Easy to use. Just start the app and put the phone in your pocket. If you like, you can also view the screen to see your location and press other location markers to checkout other sites at the zoo. ZooKeeper is also multilingual, speaking English, Spanish, German, French, and Italian. Also, like the other tour apps, ZooKeeper has a virtual mode that lets you visit different Zoos from the comfort of your home (or anywhere else you can take your phone).
In the spirit of open source (the public contributing and improving) the ZooKeeper allows users to send ideas for new markers for a zoo and, in the Summer of 2011, HistorySoft will release ZooMaker which will allow users to completely design their own Zoo tour (on their phone) and upload it to the ZooKeeper server where it will be available to all other ZooKeeper users.
ZooKeeper's first two Zoos are South Carolina's Riverbanks Zoo (in Columbia) and The Greenville Zoo. Don't miss the 3D Discover Center at Riverbanks and the 3D Riverbanks Zoo pictures you can view on your phone. Let us know what Zoos you would like to see in ZooKeeper.
